I voted

My wife and I voted.
And I am proud of it.

I wish everyone goes to vote. I could see many people walking around on the streets today - most of the offices in Bangalore have declared holiday to enable their employees to vote. I kept looking at their left index finger. But no, not a mark. That means they haven't voted. If asked, I am sure, they will claim they are educated! Sad!

There is a LOT of difference in being literate and being educated! :-)

Stumbled across your blog though Indiblogger.
Just wanted to point out that it's not only about NOT WANTING to vote. Most of us DO want to but cant, due to several reasons.
Amongst the urban educated mobile population of the country, a prime cause would be constant mobilty being a handicap...the booth where we are on the electoral rolls and current city of residence may be not be the same....I discussed this point in one of my recent posts....do have a look when time permits!

Good for you!
Here in America, where we have had the liberal opportunity to vote since our country began, it's interesting that even we do not take advantage of this privilege. I have to admit that there have been elections that I have brushed off as unimportant. There are others where I haven't voted because I feel that my vote can't make a difference. How awful is this?
I'm really glad you voted -- it taught me an important lesson as I read your blog that I should not take this blessing for granted anymore.
